Hyper-V Failover cluster now supported with Nakivo 7.1
Another Nakivo update is released in these days; the 7.1 GA introduce the ability to backup virtual machines from an entire Hyper-V cluster protected with Microsoft Failover Cluster. Let’s see in depth…
An Hyper-V protection methods with MSCS
In Microsoft virtualization environment, the central point to manage the entire pools of Hyper-V hosts is called System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). It helps moving VMs from a node to another and is involved in a dynamic optimization which can guarantee the optimal workload balance across the hosts. All VMs protection are committed to Microsoft cluster service, which use the running Hyper-V service and the shared storage (or clustered storage) to restart VMs to another node in case of failure.
The MSCS issue solved in Nakivo
Finally NAKIVO v7.1 can track the VM location in the cluster and can continue to protect the VM regardless on which cluster node the VM is located. During setup, it’s possible to add an entire cluster in the Inventory:
